Emitter settings
Control where particles start and when the emitter produces them.
Amount and lifetime
Spawn amount reveals the rate settings. The chosen rate mode determines the available values, such as steady rate or instant count.
Emitter Lifetime controls emission activity. Particle lifetime is a separate setting in the Particle menu.
Editing Spawn amount
Emitter > Spawn amount opens the Spawn amount section. Steady shows Rate and Maximum, instant shows Amount, and manual shows Maximum. Selecting a mode changes the rate component in the particle source.
Drag a slider or drag the displayed numeric value horizontally to edit it. Numeric dragging uses the displayed slider step; Shift increases the step and Alt reduces it. These slider ranges are editor convenience ranges, not Minecraft limits.
Use the expression button beside a numeric field to enter an exact number or Molang text. Text is stored in that field; the live expression indicator distinguishes an expression from a constant. Use Undo and Redo to restore the exact edit.
Reset beside a field restores its imported value, including removing a value that was absent in the imported source. Reset beside Mode restores the imported rate-component selection and contents. These resets are undoable. Save the particle document to retain changes on disk.
Editing Emitter Lifetime
Emitter > Lifetime opens the emitter lifetime section. Looping shows Active time and Sleep time; once shows Active time; expression shows Activation and Expiration.
For numeric lifetime fields, use the slider, horizontal value dragging or the expression button for exact numbers and Molang text. Activation and Expiration use their expression buttons to open text inputs.
Reset beside a field restores its imported value. Reset beside Mode restores the imported lifetime components. Undo and Redo restore the exact source changes; Save retains them on disk.
Shape and space
Emitter > Spawn shape offers point, sphere, box, disc and entity. Offset appears for point, sphere, box and disc; Radius appears for sphere and disc; Half dimensions appears for box; Plane normal appears for disc.
Surface only is available for every shape except point. Direction offers outwards, inwards and custom. Custom exposes X, Y and Z values. Each vector axis accepts a number or Molang text, and editing one axis keeps its siblings.
Drag an X, Y or Z label horizontally to change that axis. Shift uses ten times the step; Alt uses one tenth. Dragging an expression axis replaces it with a number; Undo restores the expression. Switching particles or settings ends the old drag.
Radius supports slider input, horizontal value dragging and exact number or expression entry. An exact number outside a slider interval stays unchanged in the source; the drawn thumb stays at the nearest end. Clicking the slider chooses a value within its displayed interval.
Reset beside Shape restores the imported shape components and their values. Undo and Redo restore the complete reset.
Reset beside a vector restores the imported vector value. Undo and Redo restore the complete edit. Coordinate space opens the File settings for local-space behavior. Coordinate space contains Local position, Local rotation and Local velocity. Enabling Local rotation also enables Local position. Turning Local position off also turns Local rotation off; Local velocity is independent. Reset restores the selected imported setting while keeping those dependencies. Resetting rotation off can leave position on. Undo restores the complete change.
Reset emitter transform resets the preview rotation. It is not a reset of the entire particle document.
Editing vector JSON
The expression button beside a vector opens its JSON editor. Use a three-item array such as [1, "v.emitter_age + 2", 3]. Put expression text in quotes. The kill-plane editor includes all four coefficients [A, B, C, D].
Invalid JSON, an incorrect array length or an incompatible item type leaves the draft open with an error and keeps the particle unchanged. Correct the draft and choose Apply, or choose Cancel to discard it. Reload current restores the current field text and clears the error.
The existing alternate forms remain available: Plane normal accepts "x", "y" or "z"; emitter Direction accepts "outwards" or "inwards"; Initial velocity in Motion or Quick can be changed to a single number or expression string.
Apply is one undoable source edit. If the particle or revision changes while the editor is open, Apply reports that change; reload the current value or reopen the editor for the intended particle.
Linked emitters
Add sub-emitter arms the existing placement workflow. Choose and place the emitter using that workflow, then save the affected particle files.
Quick Setup presets exposes the existing preset controls. Particle painting and the proposed freehand 3D path tool are deferred; they are not available authoring workflows.
