Files, recovery and export

Particle files and shows

New effect creates particle JSON. New show creates a Showtime sequence. Save uses the active editing mode; select the intended effect or show before saving.

File > Open recent shows file names, pack names/folders, manifest versions and last-opened times. Star a row to keep it in the separate scrolling Favourites list; Recent keeps the latest 40 non-favourites. Right-click for Open, Open folder in Explorer, Favourite, Remove from recent or Copy path. Show file paths reveals paths and remembers your choice. Missing files show Not found. Opening an existing tab keeps its unsaved draft, without reloading a large show. Remove only removes the recent entry, never the file. An empty list says No recent files. Close dismisses the list.

File properties

The File settings tab contains Identifier and Format version; the Materials tab holds the Material cards and the Vibrant Visuals MER/PBR group. Identifier and Custom material support text editing and Copy. Choose a material card, or Custom to enter a material identifier and Apply it. Cancel leaves the Custom dialog draft unapplied. Reset restores the imported property. Edits and resets support Undo and Redo; changing Format version writes the selected source value and does not prove compatibility with a Minecraft release.

Recovery

Edit > Preferences controls autosave. Zero disables it; enabled intervals are 5 to 10 minutes. File > Recovery snapshots lists local snapshots that can be restored.

File > Recovery snapshots lists local autosaves by date and the counts of particle documents, shows, JSON assets and textures they contain. The application retains up to ten rolling autosaves. A snapshot includes the eligible unsaved work captured at that time.

Click a dated snapshot button to restore its contents into the editor. The dialog closes after a successful restore. Restored particle documents and shows are new drafts; save them to your chosen destination. Restored JSON assets and texture edits also need their normal save workflows.

Close dismisses the list without restoring a snapshot. If no snapshots exist, the dialog says so. A listing failure displays an error; Close remains available, and reopening Recovery retries the list. A restore failure also displays an error in the dialog. Inspect any already opened recovered documents before retrying a multi-item restore.

Source and output

Edit JSON opens the canonical source editor; Edit curves opens curve authoring. Use Cancel to leave a pending dialog edit unapplied.

Export .json is for a particle document. Export show to behavior pack opens the show export review and folder workflow. Read that review before writing the pack.

Show clip Source in restarts the derived effect at its selected source phase; End bounds emission. Existing particles and child effects can finish naturally. Export does not reconstruct a warmed preview simulation.
