Motion field reference

Descriptions for the existing Motion settings. Select a question mark beside a field to also see its current source value.

Speed

Starts the particle with a specified speed, using the direction specified by the emitter shape

Acceleration

The linear acceleration applied to the particle in blocks/sec/sec

Linear Drag

Think of this as air-drag. The higher the value, the more drag.

Offset

Directly set the position relative to the emitter

Direction

Directly set the 3d direction of the particle

Start Rotation

Specifies the initial rotation in degrees

Speed

Specifies the spin rate in degrees/second

Acceleration

Acceleration applied to the rotation speed of the particle in degrees/sec/sec.

Linear Drag

Rotation resistance. Higher values slow the rotation over time.

Rotation

Directly set the rotation of the particle

Collide

Enable collision of the particle with the world

Radius

The radius of the particle, as used for collision.

Collision Drag

Alters the speed of the particle when it has collided

Bounciness

The amount of momentum that is maintained on bounce. Set to 0.0 to not bounce, 1.0 to bounce back up to original height

Condition

Enables collision when true / non-zero or unset

Events

Events to fire when the particle collides

Expire On Contact

Removes the particle when it hits a block

Motion type

Dynamic uses initial velocity, acceleration and drag. Parametric uses expressions for relative position and direction. Static has no translational motion settings.

Rotation mode

Dynamic uses initial rotation, rotation rate, acceleration and drag. Parametric directly sets the particle rotation from an expression.
